McNabs Island Lighthouse was built in 1903 and torn down in 1976. It was originally built to house the lighthouse keeper and his family.

Construction at Fort Ives began in 1864. The fortification was updated in the 1890s and again during WW1. The Fort featured two rifled muzzle loaded guns in their original casements.
